Generic Amitiza Is Now Available

The generic formulation of Amitiza, lubiprostone, is now available. Amitiza is FDA approved to treat chronic idiopathic constipation, opioid-induced constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation. Lubiprostone will be available in 8mcg and 24mcg capsules.

Generic prescription drugs approved by the FDA have the same high quality and strength as brand name drugs. Generic prescription drug manufacturing and packaging sites must pass the same quality standards as those of brand name drugs.
